Stop planning, start doing

It’s great to have all the kit, the new lid, a big van or race camper, fancy leathers and all that, but too many people worry that if everything isn’t just so, if they’re not keeping up with the Joneses, if they look a bit amateur, then there’s no point in joining in. That view is horseshit.
Look back at photos from the 50s and guys are trail riding on full fendered Harleys with leather saddlebags, getting three feet of air on WL protected by nothing but a leather, bus conductor's cap. Look further back and they’re climbing Widowmaker-style peaks on bikes with exposed valves, wearing nothing but jodhpurs and a woolly jumper. Now people want everything. They have a bike for this, a bike for that, kit for dusty tracks and kit for mud. Great if you can afford, but not essential.
Stop waiting for everything to be perfect. If you want to do something on your bike, just try it. If you want to start racing dirt track, use anything you can get your hands on. If you can’t get your bike to the track, don’t make an excuse, just find a way.
Because where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Anyway I once put my speedway bike in the back of my Mini and drove it to Milton Keynes to train, and a good friend of mine (Paul Muchene) used to turn up to Hackney on a saturday to train with his bike hanging out the back of a Mk1 Capri, now there's style!!!
